Quite a step up from my first cnc adventure (genmitsu prover 3018). This design is entirely free of backlash.
JANUARY 17 2023 The first thing I'm going to do is to cut some 1/4" MDF spoiler boards to protect the working surface. As part of that process, I'm going to surface the spoiler boards, and for that I'll need a surfacing router bit.
The surfacing router bit requires a 1/4" collet, which I don't have, so I better order one. I learned there are different sizes of
spindle motor shafts, and therefore different types of collets to fit them. Mine is apparently an ER11.
"ER" stands for "Extended Range." The ER collet system was originally developed by Rego-Fix, a Swiss company, and it is one of the most common collet systems used in CNC machining.
